I really liked Don Juan a Yaqui Way of Knowledge even though I didn't understand most of it. The rest of the books ... meh. I liked a phrase that is probably not a quote but a paraphrase: "Make death your ally." I interpreted this to mean that if you realize you're not going to go on forever and that you will die then you might live more fully in the moment. The worst cult I ever got into was TM. I lived for a while in Fairfield and one day I realized that nothing bad would happen if I didn't meditate. I still like the way TM makes me feel so there ya go.
Same here…the following books read like sci-fi ….didn’t go for the dire fearful angle…suspected Catholicism was back there somewhere . Anything that reframed taking drugs as important questing was fine by me. Didn’t like the three card monty business around, ok did you fly as in fly fly or some other kind of flying. Felt lucky To have fallen in with the Sufi Order. Was part of the crew that sold the former Shaker village turned summer camp to them for the Abode in NY. The link being dancing in both groups.
Greg was the first friend of Mary's that I met. Him and a couple from Iowa. We played some parlor game, wish I could remember which one but anyway it got very competitive and several times the guy from Iowa said STOP BLOCKING STOP BLOCKING. Yikes didn't know they taught that. Mary seemed like a dab hand at it, so was Greg.
Yes, but now I can't remember his last name. Wait... Heilmann! I always remember everything but it takes a while. The hamsters in the basement filing office are slow to find the information and send it back upstairs. Greg was a prominent family in Des Moines
That's right ....I've learned to give the hamster time. Used to be chip munks much faster. Mary's partner in Crazytown. Poor guy. He wigged regarding Y2K. Bought land in Oregon and animals a prepper basically. ....then nothing happened..

Did you know Greg, Mary’s friend?

Scared me because Mary was in orbit and I was afraid it might give her ideas.
What happened with Mary? Is she ok now? My ex Paul S was from Des Moines and knew her and Greg
